With cyclists ranging in age from 16 to 76 years, there are various age and discipline races at the event to suit cyclists of all levels.
Cyclevision proudly attended the Gran Fondo to show support for a wonderful cause that we too are passionate about and to showcase the Cyclevision helmet. At the event, we had the three prototype helmets for review in our exhibition tent and can happily say they were really well received. We met a great lot of cyclists and cycling fans at our tent on the foreshore, they all loved the sleek design of the helmet paired with the dual camera concept. There was also lots of excitement and anticipation over when the helmets would move into production. It was great to have Cyclevision shareholders, Andrew Blain and David Asker also at the event helping to showcase the helmet.
The event really seemed to have everything! Believe it or not, the power went out in Lorne and surrounding districts at 5.30pm on Saturday evening, and did not come back on until 11pm that night! The blackout left us facing 4 degree temperatures whilst huddled under a doona watching the Cowboys take a win on our iPhone screen; so still a fabulous night despite the darkness! Luckily, we also had power banks to charge the helmets. (Phew!).
Sunday morning saw the 5000 riders leave the village by 9.00am for the 3 hour ride. The AGF gods must have been looking after their cycling teamsters, because after the race concluded, 110km winds wiped the sea and foreshore from a tranquil oasis into a freezing “ice-cream Sunday”! As we said, the event and weekend really did have it all!
Overall, it was a great event and a great weekend for all! We really enjoyed being in the thick of it amongst the cyclists and showcasing our Cyclevision helmet to the cycling community!
